     Moses Noschkes was born in 1847 Lvov, Austria Hungary.1 He was the son of David Noschkes and Goldie Süss. Moses Noschkes was also known as . Moshe, Mojcesc Markus Noszkes v. Noschkes. This means that he used both spellings as a family name. Note that the SZ=SCH=SH and was also written as Noskes (in the 1791 census).

Burial record comment on jewishgen, reads: Moshe Mordechai ben Dovid Leib HaCohen. Note the disparity: Simon and Moses are brothers, but Simon's father is listed as Dovid Yehuda.2,3


     Moses Noschkes married Zelda Eichler.
     Moses Noschkes immigrated to New York on 23 July 1900. Ellis Island Records show a Moses Noszkes, age 42, a tailor, and an Anna Noszkes age 16, and single emigrated from Limberg (Lvov) Austria on July 23, 1900 via the Rotterdam sailing from Rotterdam, South Holland, The Netherlands. Moses was unable to read or write and they had $100 with them. They were going to join son M??? ((Who was Anna?)4)
     The children of Moses changed their name from Noschkes to Nash around 1921.

     Moses Noschkes died on 9 October 1929 New York.3 He was buried Lemberger Congregation Anshe Ashkenaz, Gate 6, Path B Left, Queens, New York. Burial record comment on jewishgen, reads: father / brother of Simon. Zelda is listed as spouse.3

Leah Noschkes

     Leah Noschkes was also known as Tanta Laicha.1
She was born circa 1850. She was the daughter of David Noschkes and Goldie Süss.

     Leah Noschkes married Isador Bermer.
     According to Stanley Winton, Leah was widowed sometime prior to the 1920's and lived with the Messings for the rest of her life. She cooked, etc, but did not participate in family functions. One story he tells (perhaps apocryphal) was that after Zeprah died, Nuchem's Rabbi insisted he marry Leah since they were living in the same house alone (Nuchem was probably ninety years old at the time).2

Stern appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of New York, Manhattan County,New York, at 1821 Seventh Avenue, enumerated 1920 He was listed as: Noschkes, Louis, head age 35, immigrated 1900, naturalized, born Austria, parents born Austria, manufacturer of dresses. Also listed were his wife, Doris, age 27, born New York, father born Austria, mother born Germany; and daughter "Rida" age 1 1/2?, born New York.3


     Louis Noschkes died on 29 September 1975 at age 93.

Also listed was wife, Beatrice 34, age at marriage 21, born New York, father born Germany, mother born New York; and children Ruth age 11, born New York, and Norma age 8, born New York.2

     Joseph Noschkes died on 5 September 1991 at age 101.
