b. 1884
Father | Berel Trugman2 b. c 1860, d. 1908 |
Mother | Nachama Baron3 b. c 1865, d. c 1941 |
Motel Trugman was also known as Max Trugman.
He was born. in 1884 Ukraine, Russia.4 He was the son of Berel Trugman and Nachama Baron.2,3
Motel Trugman married Rose Sclar circa 1905.
Max and Rose came to the U.S. for their honeymoon and remained two years before returning to Russia. Ruby was born here and returned with them. At some point Max, a postmaster, was imprisoned in Russia during the Stalinist era because he received mail with an English return address (from Sam). He died during WWII.3
Motel Trugman and Rose Sclar immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts, United States, on 2 September 1906. Markus and Rosa Frugman emigrated from Woloczysk, Russia on the Columbia, departing from Glasgow on August 25th. Max was listed as 22, an egg handler, arriving with $3. They were going to his uncle, B. Baron at 14 Levreh (Revere) Street in Boston, Massachusetts. Rosa was listed as age 18.5
He was the Postmaster of Volochisk circa 1920. We do have some postcards from Max to Katie and Sam and I have had them, translated. Before 1941, Max Trugman and Rose Sclar lived in Kuybisheva Street #9, Volochisk, Kamyanizkaya, Ukraine, Russia.4 In 2 July 1941, Max and Rose were evacuated from Volochisk a head of the advancing German Army. They were evacuated to Siberia - Sverdlov County, Kamishlov City, where they lived at Komsomol'skaya #3. This information corresponded to the registration card completed on May 17, 1942.4 I have tried to trace the family through the Red Cross. After a year I received documentation as to where they were evacuated to but unfortunately it did not lead to any new locating information. You can read about the, correspondence.
After they Returned from Siberia we have totally lost track of Max. After his imprisonment he was afraid to contact us in the US again. All Blema would say was that "son lives faraway, understand?" this was hr way of talking about Max.
