Hi came from Kupiel, where he was also born and listed his nearest relative there as a cousin, Srul Percelaz. He was listed as going to his brother-in-law, William Rosin, 32 111th Street, NY. Note: the next family listed was also from Kupiel and going to the same William Rosin. They were listed as Ichil (Yechil?) 38, Basia 33, Mendel 10, Chana 7, Dora 5, Abraham 20.2

     Henry Bradford Washburn Jr. was born on 6 July 1910 Cambridge, Massachusetts.2,3 He was the son of Henry Bradford Washburn and Edith Hall.1 In 1921, Brad climbs Mount Washington (6,288 feet), New Hampshire with cousin Sherman Hall.4 In 1926, He climbs Mount Blanc (15, 780 feet), Mount Rosa (15, 217 feet) and the Matterhorn (14, 690 feet). Brad joins the Appalachian Mountain club and makes a winter ascent of Mount Washington with his father, brother, and a classmate, Waters Kellogg.4 In 1931, He is elected to membership in the Explorers club (proposed by polar explorer Anthony Fiala and seconded by publiusher G.P. Putnam, husband of Amelia Earhart.)5 In 1937, He makes, with Robert Bates the first ascent of Mount Lucania (17, 150 feet) the highest unclimbed peak in North America. The climb is described in eight page article in LIFE Magazine.6 In 1939, Bradford Washburn is appointed director of the New England Museum of Natural History, later renamed the Boston Museum of Science.6 In 1940, He makes first ascent of Mount Bertha (10, 182 feet) in the Alaskan Coastal Range.7 In 1942, Brad takes part in the third ascent (his first) of Mount McKinley (20, 320 feet) and lives for nearly three weeks above 15,000 feet.7 In 2003, Brad and Barbara have an audience with Queen Elizabeth on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first conquest of Mt. Everest. Brad was responsible for photographing the mountain.8

     Henry Bradford Washburn Jr. died on 10 January 2007 Lexington, Massachusetts, at age 96.9,3
