The Baron family has been traced back to Issac Baron (thanks to Demian). Families living in Volochisk and the other shtetls usually had very large families. So it is quite possible that there are numerous additional descendents. but what we know so far is that Issac's son, Kalman had two children, Nechama and Yechel. Nachama never came to the US and her descendents here in America are related to the Truman, Barnett and Weiger families. Yechel's family also came here and settled in the Boston area and included the Baron, Somers and Freeman families.
There are a number of records in Volochisk archives that pertain to the Baran family. Since these were written documents it is quite possible that the o or a could be connected. I have not had a chance to review these records but will try to put them on the site in the future so one might work on it.
